How To Take More Control In Life

Are you fed up of making unachievable lists? Are you at the beck and call of others? Are you worn out by stress?  Do you react to other people’s demands? Do you want to stop the chaos and take more control? Do you want more ‘me’ time?

This course will include activities and discussion covering:

  • how to identify the barriers and habits that stop you being in control;
  • how to identify areas where you can take more control;
  • ways to prioritise your tasks; what you have to do and also what you WANT to do;
  • ways to manage your time more effectively; and
  • strategies to stay focussed on your goals.

You will also be provided with resources to accompany the course. Being and feeling in more control of what you think and do will help you feel stronger, less stressed and more focussed.

How To Get On Better With Others

Do you want stronger, better relationships with friends, family and colleagues? Do you want to understand yourself and your emotions better? Do you want to understand why some people wind you up? Are you ready to learn to listen more to others and learn to ask the right questions at the right time? On this course you can increase your emotional intelligence, as well as your interpersonal skills.

This course will include activities and discussion covering:

  • understanding your own and other peoples’ emotions;
  • our different personalities and behaviours;
  • understanding your impact on others and theirs on you;
  • improving your listening skills to help understand others’ issues; and
  • learning to ask effective questions that help build stronger relationships.

You can have better relationships when you learn to understand yourself; take time to think about other people and ‘where they are coming from’, their perspective and learn listening and questioning techniques that help build stronger relationships with the people around you.

Be who you want to be when you need to be. Life can knock us down; but the trick is to learn from the falls and get up again, stronger. Easier said than done!

This course, combining discussion with activities, provides time in the traditional New Year: New You season to reflect on:

  • what knocks your confidence;
  • strategies to build your confidence;
  • how to cope with negative emotions;
  • our resilience and strategies to strengthen it;
  • what is assertiveness and how to use it effectively; and
  • some short mindful practices to bring some peace and calm into life

There are no miracle cures for lacking confidence, but spending time reflecting on situations that make you anxious is time well-spent on handling them better in the future. Add in some assertiveness and you can be who you want to be. Building our resilience and coping strategies for when life events knock us down help us learn and carry on with greater wisdom.
